THE SIMPLEST way to bring this existing building up to code compliance with AS1735 Part 15 and NCC E3.6 was to construct a shaft onto the outside of the building. The shaft was made large enough to allow foyers at each level but not so large that it impacted on the external driveway and parking area.

The 1100mm x 1400mm ElfoLift steel doors included small vision panels as well as Ditec automatic openers and closers to make it easier for people in wheelchairs using the lift. The finishes inside the lift were kept nice and simple for clean and modern match in with the rest of the building.
